The primary responsibility of the planner/scheduler is to maintain and support production and inventory targets through weekly planning and scheduling, subsequent releases of jobs to the shop floor along with the daily maintenance of purchase orders to all outside vendor processes to provide a targeted supply of finished goods that effectively supports and satisfies customer demand.

DUTIES:

  • Runs weekly planning reports by product line and generate shop orders as required.
  • Establishes raw material requirements for shop orders and submits requisitions.
  • Works together with supervisors to develop weekly production schedules and monitors work in process priorities.   
  • Ensures coordination with plant supervisors to make adjustments to production schedules daily/weekly as needed to meet customer needs.
  • Coordinates outside process requirements with shop supervision and company logistics daily issuing purchase orders and communicating priorities with vendors as necessary.     
  • Works with customer service and engineering on custom orders and new product development R&D production requirements.
  • Works with Shop Floor and Shipping to ensure timeliness of inventory transactions and that inventory accuracy is maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of production/demand planning and scheduling experience in a high-volume environment.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have a good fundamental understanding of production operations and processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
  • Experience using MRP/ERP systems; SYSPROexperience a plus.
  • CPIM certification a plus.
